    Hr. Jeffers: #3 Oot. 39, 1939 c o n s i d e r a t i o n be given to the item required to fill our immediate needs, a n d the other items m a y be c o n s i d e r e d later. What w e need m o s t la the item listed as Ho* 3, that la, two new w e l l s w i t h pipe line t o transmit their produetion to the settling basin* If w e c o n c e n t r a t e on this one requirement, it w i l l take care of our needs for the c o m i n g summer a n d out the estim a t e d expenditure almost in half. Considering the r e c o m mendations by items: 1. Mi d d l e Spring, clea n i n g out, r e t a i n i n g w a l l and cover, pipe line and pumping equipment, $3,500: The retaining wall w o u l d have to b e quite d e e p in order to prevent seepage around the b o t t o m a n d the space to b e enclosed a n d covered w o u l d be at least fifty feet in d i a meter. The co s t a w o u l d b e investment for retai n i n g walls and cover, plus maintenance a n d opera t i o n of pump. From present measurements, the b e n e f i t s w o u l d be only 353,000 gallons per day, leas than 10 per cent of the d a i l y c o n s u mption during summer months. Inasmuch as we are required to d e l i v e r a c e r t a i n am o u n t of water to the Stewart Burial plot, suggest this wa t e r f r o m the M i d d l e Spring b e a l l o w e d to r u n d o w n Las, V e g a s Creek as at present* 3. Two new w e l l s w i t h pipe lines, $15,000* T h i s is of param o u n t importance and should b e given first consideration. Suggest first new well be dril l e d in location m a r k e d *Ho. 4* because the location m a r k e d "So* 3* is c o n s i derably lower than our Well Ho* 3, and is not fenced. A l s o a t r a n s mission m a i n f r o m Ho* 4 w o u l d require only about h a l f as m u c h pipe to take the water to the settling basis. Regar d i n g se c o n d new well, suggest c o n s i d e r a t i o n be given to a location on the M, Gutting property, after same has b e e n acquired, b e c a u s e of the ma r k e d shoeing of water thereon, similar to the sand dune w i t h runn i n g spring on t o p where we dri l l e d W e l l #3, A w e l l in this loca t i o n oould a l s o b e brought by gravity flow to our present settling basin. 3, R e p a i r i n g and r e c o m pleting Well Ho. 3, $1,500. Well Ho. 3 is a l r e a d y so arran g e d that the water c a n be shut off. However, our experience w i t h such a practice is that this causes the flow to decrease, considerably. Instead thereof, w h e n it is dea i r e d to reduce the a m o u nt pf water running d o w n Lae V e g a s Greek to the Ranch, xxxxxtkxxxxxxkSrt
