T X F HEY?╟╓RE BILLED AS CHARLIE FRYE and Company, The ?╟úCompany?╟Ñ refers to Frye?╟╓s partner, both on and off stage, his wife, Sherry, and they are starring in the all-new ?╟úBest of the Folies Bergere ... Sexier Than Ever?╟Ñ at the Tropicana. F;rye and Company have combined many areas of the entertainment business in creating their unique, Vaudcvillian act, including juggling and magic. And they have employed a particu- larly effective touch; not a word is spoken in their I I-minute segment. ?╟úMy husband pays me to give him a hard lime,?╟Ñ Sherry said of the character she portrays in their act. ?╟úShe humiliates me two shows a night, six nights a week and loves every second of it,?╟Ñ Frye chimed in, going on to describe their silent- movie-ly|>c characters; In their private lives, they just celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary. ?╟úYou can actually be married and stay in show business,?╟Ñ Sherry said. Sherry's character is that of a disinterested partner who begrudgingly tosses an adoring Frye his props between episodes of filing her nails and ignoring him. While this busi- ness is going on, Frye is deftly showing his brilliance in juggling, clowning and magic, wrapped up in a Chaplinesque package. His character is very appealing. Born in North Caroli- na, Frye is a third-generation clown. He grew up performing WOMAN OF THE HOUSE ?╟÷ \ Charlie Frye and his wife, Sherry, make up Frye and Company ?╟úBest of the Folies Bergere?╟Ñ ?√ß Where ?╟≤Tropicana ?√ß When ?╟≤ Fri.-Wed. ?√ß Information ?╟≤ 739-2411 in a dozen parades a year and put on magic shows for birthday parties. Originally from Louisiana, she went to a performing arts school in North Carolina when she was 14. After graduation, she went to New York, where she joined a dance company, briefly, be lore joining Ringling Bros. Later, Lou Jacobs, the man Frye calls ?╟úthe greatest American circus clown,?╟Ñ gave him some life- changing advice: that he should leave the circus and go out on his own. Frye and Sherry moved to New York, did some street performing and then started breaking into the casino market. Their act today is the result of years of hard work, sound advice and ongoing refining and pol- ishing. Frye credits his dear friend, the great clown George Carl, with throwing Frye?╟╓s clown cos- tume into the garbage, telling him, ?╟úYou don?╟╓t work like that any more,?╟Ñ handing him one o! his old costumes saying, ?╟úYou work like this.?╟Ñ Frye and Company have performed onstage and on television all over the world. They have lived in Australia and South Africa, enjoyed repeat engagements in Monte .'Carlo and, among their numer- ous stateside credits, have opened for and become close friends with Liza Minnelli. They have lived in Las Vegas since 1985 and are delighted to be a part of the new ?╟úBest of the Folies Bergere.?╟Ñ ?╟úWe?╟╓ve always wanted to do the ?╟ Folies.?╟╓ When we were called before, we were never available, so this is perfect timing, we?╟╓re really thrilled,?╟Ñ Frye said with a smile.
