Water Rights - Las Vegas Los Angeles, Aug* 13, 1924. Mr. A. S. Halsted: Attached are two copies each of the application of Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Co. and the applications of Las Vegas Land and Water Co. to appropriate the waters of the artesian well located near the Big Spring at Las Vegas, Nevada, You w ill note that in the application o f Las Vegas Land and Water Co. fo r irrigation purposes- 5.32 second f t is claimed instead of 3.32 second feet as o rig in a lly contemplated, this for the reason that the State Engineer may deem the amount applied for by the ra ilro ad fo r railroad purposes, and by the Las Vegas Land and Water Co. fo r municipal purposes- excessive, and cut down the respective amounts, ^nd we wish to cover the f u ll volume of water developed. m m J 1 w m m J Steps should be taken without delay to put a control valve on the w ell so as to avoid a waste/of water or any depletion of the artesian belt* A great portion of the water now flowing from the well is not applied to/any ben eficial use and can not be u n til the land upon which i t is intended to be applied is cleared and leveled for cropping purposes. We are holding the origin al applications, and when advised by you w ill f i le same and proceed to perfect the applications. PRM-H F. R. MCNAMEE
