VACATION PETITIONS Commissioner Bunker moved the petition of Walter J. Murphy to vacate forty feet on the north CHARLESTON Blvd. side of Charleston Boulevard between 16th and 17th Streets and the petition of Joseph Gordon 15th to 17th to vacate forty feet on the north side of Charleston between 15th and 16th Street be referred to the Planning Commission for recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Sharp. VARIANCE DENIAL APPEAL Commissioner Whipple moved the public hearing on the application of the Desert Palms Trailer Public Hearing Set Court to construct an additional 80 units to their trailer court located south of Owens Avenue Desert Palms Trailer between Main Street and the UPRR right of way be held September 30, 1953 at 7:30 P.M. Court Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners: Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Sharp. RESOLUTION ACCEPTING R/W Deed Desert Lane On motion of Commissioner Jarrett, duly seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried unanimously, the following resolution is adopted and order made: BE IT RESOLVED, this l6th day of September, 1953, by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, that the deed, dated the 9th day of September, 1953, executed by Ada L. Bearden to the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the real property described therein be, and is hereby accepted, for the purposes and intentions as therein set forth; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be attached to said deed, and that the same be recorded in the office the County Recorder of the County Of Clark, State of Nevada, and filed in the records of this Board. Absent: Commissioner Sharp. TAXI APPLICATIONS Commissioner Bunker moved the application of Union Cab Company for one addition taxicab for Union Cab the third quarter of 1953 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Jarrett. Absent: Commissioner Sharp. CIGARETTE APPLICATIONS Commissioner Whipple moved the following applications for license for the retail sale of cigarettes and tobacco products be approved: BRIGHT SPOT DRIVE INN Barnie Sullivent 300 Stewart SAL SAGEV GIFT SHOP Leah G. Ludwig 3 Fremont TOWN HOUSE C.M. Bunnell 1323 E. Street Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Sharp. NEW YORKER BAR No action was taken on the request of Beryl B. Hayes to add the name of Anthony P. Giarrusso Liquor License to the license of the New Yorker Bar due to the fact that Mr. Giarrusso is not a registered voter. LIQUOR APPLICATION Beckwith & Reid The request of Blaine G. Beckwith and James E. a package liquor license prior to January 1, filed. • Reid for consideration of their application for 1954 should any license be available was ordered BEVERLY GREEN TRACT #3 Action on the final map of Beverly Green Tract No. 3 was deferred until September 30, 1953. Final Map PROPOSED ORDINANCE SUBDIVISIONS PROPOSED ORDINANCE Commission Voting Restrictions Commissioner Whipple, member of the committee for recommendation on the proposed ordinance reported unfavorably, and requested that this ordinance be taken off the agenda until a new ordinance has been prepared. Commissioner Jarrett, member of the committee for recommendation on the proposed ordinance on Commission Voting Restrictions requested additional time until a report has been received from the Grand Jury on this ordinance. ORDINANCE NO. 575 Liquor to Minors An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR SALE OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR TO MINORS. MAKING THE OWNER RESPONSIBLE FOR SALES MADE TO MINORS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioner Whipple was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 575 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Sharp. 9- 16-53
