./ I Mr. Win. Reinhardt - Los Angeles If * ^ jg- 4H|$K|pP / i IJIMSIU M, Las Vegas - February 5# 1954 oe: Mr, E. E. Bennett Mr, W. H. Johnson Mr. 0. M. Bates Mr. C. M. Cory * .. Attached please find copy of letter from City of Las Vegas to the Las Vegas Land and Water Company dated February 3, 1954 Cot>v of which was sent the Water District, in which the City requests certain easements over Union Pacific and Las Vegas Land and Water Company property northerly of West Charleston Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada. I am also submitting one print of drawing, without title or wdhui4 chi wshJolwcsh if n harveed Scaotleodr lFoecbartuiaornys 4,o f 19r5e4q,u esftuerdn isehaesedm emnet sb.y the City I have prepared and am subm itting herewith one print of Drawing 1-128 showing water production facilities of the Las Vegas L&nd and Water Company, which I have dated February 5 , 1 9 5 4 , on which I have shown in yellow color the boundaries of land which is proposed to be sold to the Las Vegas Valley Water District under terms of Agreement G L.B.-11342 dated June 1, 1953. I have also indicated on this print in blue color the area of easements requested in the attached letter from the City of Las Vegas. It will be noted that the easements requested by the City are located partly on land which it is proposed to sell to the Water District and partly on land owned by Union Pacific which will be retained as Railroad land. has Vegas has entered into a construction contract for the extension of trunk 1*ne sewers in areas covered by all of the easements requested in their letter as well as in other portions of the city where the Company property will not be Involved. In awarding this contract the City failed to secure necessary easements across Company property in advance, and when I learned of this situation I informed the Director of Public Works that his contractor would not be permitted to enter onto our property until such time as they had secured from us easements or permission to do so. I believe it was poor management on the City's part to award this contract without having first secured a Right of Way, but in view of the fact that the construction work on the sewers is now in progress and it will be only a matter of a few weeks or a month before they will reach a point where it will be necessary for them to either have the permission of the Company to enter the property or to discontinue construction, they have now requested the required easements from us in the hope that these easements can be provided in time so that it will not be necessary to discontinue their construction work. As a matter of information, the City's contractor is now working approxi** mately at the point which I have marked on the map with the letter “X* near the intersection of Highway 95 and Charleston Boulevard and is proceeding westerly,
