On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that a retail beverage license be granted to H.F. Reid for 224 No 1st St. S id application being approved by acting Chief of Police Geo. Thompson. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that license for two (2) gaming devices be granted to the Mission Casino. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. The Clerk read to the Board a number of applications for positions with the City and upon motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Ronnow it was moved and carried that these applications be placed on file for future reference. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. A letter from J.T.McWilliams, Civil Engineer was read to the Board where in Mr. Williams reported to the Board the lact of grades established at various sections of the City. Clerk was directed to place letter on file. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that C.D.Baker, City Engineer be requested to file with the Clerk all properties held by him and belonging to the City of Las Vegas. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Commissioners Gilbert and Krause passing their vote. Noes none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that a petition read to the Board at this time asking improvement of a short street known as ParkWay be handed to Commissioner Gilbert for investigation and report to the Board. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that the claim of the Las V gas Land & Water Company in the sum of $129.40 for repairs to fire hydrants be allowed. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that Commissioner Krause be granted permission to hire special officers at such time as same maybe be needed during the vacation periods. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that Clarence Stay be employed by the Street Department for the next ninety days. Salary at the rate of $140 Oo per month. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Mr. A.W.Blackman appeared before the Board and explained the system for keeping a record of the gas distribution at the City Barn and informed the Board that it would coat approximately $50 00 to install the system. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that the Clerk call for bids to be opened July 5th, 1939 for the purchase of the necessary equipment to install a checking system for gas distribution at the City Barn. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Mrs McEachine appeared before the Board in regard to securing building restrictions in Woodland Park Addition to the City of Las Vegas. Mrs McEachin was requested to present a letter to the Board signed by property owners in this district setting forth the building restrictions they wished set forth in an ordinance to be enacted By the Board of Commissioners. No further business appearing before the Board at this time on motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that this meeting adjourn. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. noes, none. Thereupon said meeting adjourned. N.B. This motion to be incorporated in above minutes: On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert the following Resolution was introduced and passed: WHEREAS the prospective income of the City of Las Vegas will be greatly decreased through the lowering of the tax levy by the Board of Clark County Commissioners, and WHEREAS, there seems to be only one method of balancing the City Budget, vis: through a hearty cooperation of all city employees in a systematic and rigid reduction in expenditures, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that previous approval of a majority of the Board be required in connection with all requisitions for supplies in excess of $25.00 and that all employees be urged to avoid emergency purchases unless a real emergency exists, Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye.
