Gerry Gottlieb, director of advertising and publicity, who is handling the campaign, characterized the program as two-pronged, designed to stimulate trade interest as well as consumer interest Trade and press people will be flown to Las Vegas for the weekend of July 8 at which time movie star Janet Leigh will stage a fash-' ion show at the Sands, Mr. Gottlieb stated. On the consumer level, the cam-; paign calls for a national contest to pick Miss Natlynn for 1956. This ; will be launched in September at various colleges in the country. Newsreels Slated. TV and Hollywood personalities [ are expected to participate in the ! Las Vegas fashion event, according to plans. Universal-International and Warner Bros., will take newsreels of the show and spotlight the Natlynn-Janet Leigh fashions in local theatres around the country two weeks later, Mr. Gottlieb stated. Mr. Gottlieb said that 15 numbers have been designed under the supervision of Miss Leigh. These dresses will carry a special hang- taft each dress to have a name. Two spHial dresses have been named, one "Golden Beauty," and the other, "My Sister Eileen," to tie in iwith the Columbia picture. I The plan calls for Miss Leigh to pake personal appearances at stores and for her to M.C. fashion phows to be held in conjunction with the picking, of local winners in the "Miss Natlynn" contest. 1 The dress firm, a strong believer n film tie-ins, is making promo- IgaalJdts available to the stores. The array of neon signs, colorful fronts of the casinos mixed with the sound o; s"ands of "one-armed bandits" in full swing leaves no question about gambling being the number one business in this desert metropolis.
