    \ \ Agreements - Sale of Acreage to John L. Russell or W. E. Hawkins.... las Vegas, May 9, 1923, k Mr. W'. H. Comstock, General Manager, Los Angeles & Salt Lake H. H. Co., Los Angeles, California. Dear Sir: Referring to Mr. Calvin’s letter to you under date of March 23rd/ carbon copy of which was sent me, in reference to Bale of acreage lying north and west of the townssite; first approval to sell to John L. RubbMI (who decided later he could not, at this time, purchase on account of failure of his financial hacker) and a later aale approval to W. E. Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins, who at that time wanted to purchase the ground and, through ray request had agreement prepared covering the same whidh is herewith enclosed (having not been executed) and returned for cancellation. As Mr. Hawkins has now decided that he cannot handle this property, I am return­ing to you for cancellation "both the Russell agreement and the K&wkins agreement. X am sorry that our different departments have "been put to the trouble of preparing these agreements and, in the future, in case of any prospective sales of this nature, I will require a substantial deposit from the buyer before we go to the trouble of securing the necessary authority and preparing agreements.
