? 30.000 to 35,000 acre feet a year and that the withdrawal therefrom, both measured and unmeasured, ranges from 39,000 to 42.000 acre feet a year and that the withdrawal has exceeded the recharge since approximately the year 1946. (h) That your applicant is informed and believes and therefore alleges that the water level in the Las Vegas Valley Water Basin has declined and is continuing to decline. (i) That by reason of the facts above stated the customers of the applicant are faced with prospects of a serious water shortage in the near future. (j) That the presently existing water supply utilized by applicant in furnishing water to the inhabitants of the City of Las Vegas and the present facilities of applicant are sufficient to supply the reasonable consumption of water, including emergency peak demands, of its present consumers but that the existing water supply is not and will not be sufficient to meet the continuing growth of the City and the increasing demands for water by the present and prospective customers of the applicant. (k) That the drilling of additional wells by applicant will further deplete the existing water supply and increase the present overdraft on the Las Vegas Valley Water Basin. That until the City of Las Vegas and its surrounding territory secure an additional supply of water from sources outside of the Las Vegas Valley Water Basin, the use of water from that basin should be curtailed, and limited to the present customers of the applicant. IV WHEREFORE, applicant prays that the Public Service Commission of the State of Nevada make its Order granting this application and permitting applicant to supplement and amend its existing Rules by including therein the Rule hereinabove more specifically set forth. -3-
