    OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. DECEMBER 30th, 1937 Minutes of a recessed regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held on the 30th day of December, 1937 at the hour of seven o'clock P.M. Roll call showed the following present Mayor Arnett, Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent Commissioner Perry. Minutes of all regular, special and recessed meetings read and approved as read. On motion of Commissioner Marble seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that permission be granted the Grand Canyon Airlines to operate a taxi from the Sal Sagev Hotel. Said permission to be granted only upon receipt by the Clerk of the written approval of the allowing of this permit by John Miller Owner of the Sal Sagev Hotel. Vote Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none On motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Marble it was moved that tavern licenses for the year 1938 be granted to the following applicants: Al Salton, L.L. Arnett, W.S.Goodwin, Homer Groves and Las Vegas Tavern. Vote Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none On motion of Commissioner Marble seconded by Commissioner Ronnow it was moved and carried that the following beverage licenses for the year 1938 be granted: Professional Drug, James Stahl, Geo. Markisch, J.K. Houssels, A.T.Spatz, Vera Magness, Morris Rose, Ruby Riley and J.K. McMicheal, Conchia Chevez and Bohn Irish. Vote Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none On motion of Commissioner Ronnow the following licenses for the year 1938 were granted National Ice Company and Atlas Supply Co. for wholesale beverages A.T. Spatz, Gee Markisch and Morris Rose retail sealed package liquor. Vote Commissioners Krause Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none All the above applications were granted only with the approval of the Chief of Police David Mackey. On motion of Commissioner Marble seconded by Ronnow it was moved and carried that W.J. Flowers, operator of the Las Vegas Credit Bureau pay a license of $5.00 per calendar quarter if he would file in the office of the Clerk a written statement that his collection department operated in connection with the Credit Bureau amounted to 25% or less than his total business. Vote Commissioners Krause, Marble, and Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Ronnow it was moved and carried that the following persons be granted gambling and slot machine licenses: Joe Morgan, Dave Stearsn for the Northern Club. J.K Houssels for the Las Vegas Club, J.R. McMicheal, Al Salton, Carl Ray, All applications accompanied with cash to cover the same Vote Commissioners Krause, Marble and Ronnow and His Honor the mayor voting aye. Noes, none. The following entitled Ordinance was read to the Board for a first time: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2 AND SECTION 3 AS AMENDED, OF ORDINANCE NO. 168 OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OR LAS VEGAS, ESTABLISHING A RESIDENCE DISTRICT, INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL DISTRICTS WITHIN THE SAID CITY OF IAS VEGAS: DEFINING SUCH DISTRICTS: DECLARING IT UNLAWFUL TO ERECT, ESTABLISH, MAINTAIN, OR OPERATE CERTAIN FACT­ORIES, WORKS, OR ESTABLISHMENTS WITHIN SAID RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS AND SAID COMMERCIAL DIS­TRICTS: REGULATING THE ERECTION, ESTABLISHMENT, MAINTENANCE, OPERATION AND REBUILDING OF CERTAIN WORKS OR ESTABLISHMENTS IN SAID DISTRICTS: PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF SAID ORDINANCE, AND REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH," and vote upon the adoption of said Ordinance was Commissioners Krause, Marble, Ronnow and His Honor the Mayor. Noes, none, absent Commissioner Perry. Said Ordinance to be known as Ordinance No. 229, and the Clerk was directed to for with have same published in the Las Vegas Age, a weekly newspaper published in the City of Las Vegas, for once a week for two consecutive weeks. No further business appearing before the Board at this time the meeting adjourned. OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CITY OF LAS VEGAS CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. JANUARY 4th, 1938 Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held on the 4th day of January, 1938 at the hour of seven o'clock P.M. Roll call showed the following present Mayor Arnett, Commissioners Krause, Marble and Perry, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent Commissioner Ronnow. All claims allowed as per "Claims & Warrant Register" on file in the office of the Clerk. At this time Commissioner Marble ask to be excused.
