NEXT WEEK - Las Vegas Bureau Chief for the FBI Joe Yablonsky will be our guest speaker. It should be interesting. * GOLDEN WEDDING * Congratulations to another longtime Las Vegas Club Rotarian, Leonard Fayle and his Rotary Ann, Anna on the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Many of you attended a gala party honoring Leonard and Anna hosted by their daugh-ter and her husband last Saturday. A hearty CONGRATULATIONS from your fellow Rotarians, Leonard. * TWD MEMBERS BRAVE * A couple of the members of the Las Vegas Rotary Club are gearing up for an out-door jaunt in August and one which not only will provide a great deal of hot sunshine but a thrill or two along the way. . Sherwin Garside and his Rotary Ann, Beth and Dr. R. Guild Gray have signed up for one of the many Cliff Segerblocm tours and will get away sometime in August. The jaunt will include a nine day voyage which will traverse the entire length of the Grand Canyon and will carry the group through a lot of white water along the way. He led off by introducing the head table, Marion Earl, Frank Sain, Bill MoGrew, Ashley Hall and our guest speaker for the day, fellow Rotarian Vern Willis. * VISITING ROTARIANS & GUESTS * Dennis Schavietello introduced a long list of visiting Rotarians and guests. We have visiting Rotarians frcm Mexico, Virginia, Colorado, Scotland, Tennessee and Minnesota. * INDUCTION * We had the pleasure this past week of welcatiing 3 new Rotarians to our midst. The newest memb-ers are: JOEL BLAISDELL, Whose classification will be "Shopping Centers Mgt," is General Manager of the Boulevard Shopping Center. Joel was born and raised in Southern Minnesota, att-ended Mankato State University, is married to wife, Judy. They have two sons, age five and one month. Joel is a new "Papa". Joel likes golf in the summer and skiing in the winter. * GOOD NEWS FOR MARK SMITH * Well, it almost looked like Mark Smith was going to get hit with a $100 fine Wednesday when no one showed up for "the news", but Pres. Joe received the fine when Gail showed up late, but that's better than not at all Gail, and you saved your boss. Mark, would you have made Gail pay for that? * ANNOUNCEMENTS * Pres. Joe announced that a new format was being established for visiting Rotarians and that a special table up front would be set-up for them and International guests. A special photo will be taken of our International guests for them to take back to their club. Pres. Joe also asked for every-one to please make sure they have sent their questionnaire back.. IMPORTANT. * SUMMER HIRE-A-TEEN PROJECT * Remember, one of our Community Service projects this year is the Hire-A-Teen program. If you can place one of these youngsters for a period of time this sunmer call Mike Meyers. They need our help. * LIBERACE IS UP * George Liberace is out of the hospital and back on the road to recovery and that's great news. George has been in the hospital recovering frcm surgery. We're happy to hear he's on the mend and will be back with us soon. TQM CONNER, vtfiose classification will be "Real Estate Mgt." hails frcm San Francisco. Tom is married to wife Jeanette. They have two sons, age nine and five. Tcm operates Gcmstock Management, a real estate manage-ment firm specializing in single family hemes and apartment management. TOM CARNS, whose classification will be "Printing Ccmmercial" hails frcm Washington State. Tcm is no nevcomer to Rotary having served as President of the Edmonds, Wash, club, and as that District Governor's rep-resentative. Tcm is married, has two child-ren. By the way, Tcm operates PDQ Printing and prints our Rotary Wheel. WELCOME to all three of our newest Rotarians ahd CONGRATULATIONS! * THE PROGRAM * LAST WEEK - We had the pleasure of listening to our own fellow Rotarian Vern Willis who spoke to us on the National Market System, a new marketing concept of the future. Vern gave us a bit of stock market history back through the years. Vern explained that the new concept and the reason for the forming of the National Market System was to create more competition in the market place and it would appear that it is the new way of the future for stock marketing. Thanks Vern for a most informative presentation. THIS WEEK - Stan Hunterton, special attorney for the U.S. Dept. of Justice speaking on "The Business of Organized Crime.
