An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 671 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 36, SECTION 58, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 19^9, BY ADDING A NEW SUBSECTION TO PREVENT VEHICLE PARKING ON SOUTH FIFTH STREET BETWEEN OAKEY BOULEVARD AND SAN FRANCISCO STREET; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATING; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO", was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Fountain for recommendation. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 675 ENTITLED:"AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING SALES OF HYPODERMIC SYRINGES OR NEEDLES EXCEPT TO DULY AUTHORIZED PERSONS AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION THEREOF, AND OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO.", was read by title and referred to Commissioners Sharp and Whipple for recommendation. The Commission considered the request of Continental Air Lines that the City petition the CAB for additional service into Las Vegas. Commissioner Sharp moved that the City of Las Vegas file a petition to intervene in the Service to Phoenix Case of the Continental Air Lines. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker,Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. Mrs. Jeanne Houssels appeared before the Commission concerning the application of property owners to rezone Paradise Park from R-3 and R-4 to R-l. Mrs. Houssels requested that the Building Department be directed to stop the issuance of building permits in this area until the applications for rezoning can be considered. Commissioner Bunker moved this matter be held in abeyance until the next regular meeting. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker,Fountain,Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. At this time Mr. Mel Cooper and his attorney, Mr. Harry Claiborne appeared before the Commission concerning the stop order placed on his apartments at 129-131 Baltimore Avenue. Mr. Cooper presented the plans for his construction as approved by the Planning Commission, and stated that there were only eight units to be rented. Discussion was held and Mr. Cooper was advised that this apartment house would be checked when completed to see that there were only eight rentals. Commissioner Sharp moved the Mayor and Clerk be authorized to sign the contract with Motorola Communications and Electronics for the maintenance of radio units. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker. City Manager Kennedy requested authorization for payment of $1400 for Address-O- Graph plates and printing for the sewer rental bills. Commissioner Sharp moved this payment be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor Mayor Pro Tem Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Mayor Baker.
