On the Mend
Soror Betty Bell is in good spirits after her
foot surgery on Jan. 28. A get well card was
mailed from the sorority and I delivered
flowers by her home on Wednesday night
and had a pleasant visit with her. She hopes
to be back with us soon.
Soror Gwendolyn Gates-Bartlett is doing
very well after surgery to her left hand A
get well card was sent to her from Theta
Theta Omega and I took flowers to her home
on Monday night, Feb. 4. She sends her best
and hopes to be up and around real soon.
I spoke to Soror Greta Mills and she is still
getting better as time goes by.
Lets continue to pray for these sorors to have
a foil recovery.

having to lay her stepfather to rest. Flowers

Calls have been placed to the sorors on the 2002 roster for the missing data. I will need a list of all the financial sorors from Soror Ouida Brown to know who to prepare gifts for at the monthly meetings.Congratulations are in order for Soror Shirley Carroll on her recent promotion in the Clark County School District from administrative specialist in Career and Technical Education to Coordinator of K-12 Digital Content and Distant education effective 2/19/02. congressional candidate through several
fundraisers throughout the city.. ,
Soror Kaweeda Adams is now a prcrtessorand will
be teaching in Henderson at Regis University
graduate level courses in Leadership and
Education Methods.
Soror Annette Craighead was voted to a two-year
term to the Vestry of the Christ Church Episcopal.
The Vestry is the body that runs the affairs of the
church for parishioners. She has also taken on the
position of Promotions and Marketing Director for
Carl Johnson_ A ReMax Advantage Realtor.
Soror Yvonne Atkinson-Gates has been appointed
Chair of a national committee for the Democratic

Soror Terri Polite has a new career as a nuclear
medicine technologist for Axeus Medical. In her
new position, Soror Terri will be assigned to
various locations throughout the United States.
The first is Brunswick, GA for thirteen weeks. She
left Sunday, May 29, and will contact us with
information once she gets settled We wish her
the best as she continues to blaze new trails.
Services Division in the Sexual Abuse Unit as of
March 25. Congratulations Soror and all the best
to you in your new position.
Soror Ina Dorman continues to shine as the new
Social Work Supervisor at UNLV's Boyd School of
Law Legal Clinic. Soror Ina will be working with
the Youth Based Advocacy Program. We wish
her well and much success in her new position.
Soror Celese Rayford will graduate from UNLV
Saturday, May 15,2002 with a Master's Degree
in Educational Leadership. Another bright star on
the rise. Bravo! You did it!
Soror Lynette Boggs-McDonald has new spotlight
information on the GOP website as being a
trailblazer toward election to the House on Capital
Hill. She has the potential for a powerful political
future as an African-American woman Republican
under 40. Way to go Soror!

Memorial Services was held on Wednesday,
September 4,2002 in Tacoma, WA
Sympathies and prayers were extended to the
family of Soror Alecia Ellis. Soror Ellis became an
Ivy Beyond the Wall on Saturday, August 31,
2002. Services are pending with Palm Mortuary,
Sympathies and prayers are extended to the
family of Mrs. Bobbie Atkinson, mother of Soror
Yvonne Atkinson-Gates passed away on
September 2,2002.
May the Lord give these families strength to
endure during those difficult days ahead.
On the Mend:
Soror Grace Mills had surgery on August 28 in
Orlando, FL. Soror Greta and Honey Do Hughie
are in Orlando caring for her. A card was mailed
to Soror Grace from the chapter.
Soror Darlene Hancock is recovering nicely after
undergoing knee surgery this summer.
Keep these sorors in your prayers and keep in
touch while they are mending. I did get a chance
to visit her in the hospital before my departure
for the summer.

Soror Gwendolyn Gates-Bartlett is a new retiree.
You have served children well for more than 40
years. We honor you for all your dedication and
service as an educator.
Congratulations!
Soror Josie Gaines is the recipient of the Melvin
Fellowship Award. It is the highest recognition
bestowed by the Lion's Club International for
meeting the humanitarian needs of the
community. Congratulations Soror Josie!
Soror Lynette Boggs-McDonald is the new2002-
2003 President of the Nevada League of Cities
and Municipalities. She is the first African-
American woman to ever hold the post in the
state's history. Way to go Soror Lynette!
Soror Amanda McWilliams has been selected by
the Social Security Administration to participate
in the Leadership Development Program. The
program is offered to only ten people per year.
The program is designed to expose the
participants of management within the SSA and
to allow them to explore all aspects of what the
region has to offer. Soror Amanda is assigned to
California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii. We will
miss her at our meetings and other functions and
wish her the best as she completes this
leadership academy.
Soror Dorothy Johnson will be featured as a
KLAS-TV Channel 8 Hometown Hero for her work
with NBLIC. Congratulations Soror Dorothy!

Our sympathies and prayer were extended to
Soror Clair Hart who lost her father, and is
having a memorial service today at one
o'clock, instead of eleven, at the Palm
Mortuary on Eastern Ave. The family thanks
chapter members for the many cards and
calls during this most difficult time.
IO01. The funeral was held on September 14th
in North Carolina.
May the Lord give these families strength to
endure during those difficult days ahead.
On the Mend:
Soror Darlene Hancock is mending nicely
after her knee surgery. Keep her and Honey
Do Allen in your prayers. Allen is recovering
from a mild heart attack. Check in often
with Soror Darlene for she may need a ride
from time to time. She is getting back to
activities.

Soror Lynette Boggs-McDonald is on the air!

representative seat in the upcoming election.
Soror Amanda McWilliams is in town today,
but cannot attend our meeting because of a
work-related event she must attend. She
plans to attend the November general
meeting and some of our annual -functions as
time permits. She said to tell everyone hello
and that she is really enjoying the Leadership

Theta Theta Omega Chapter Hodegos/Hospitality Reports: Soror Ethel Archibald October 21, 2002Hodegos Announcements:Visit to Soror Thais Baccus at the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center on Thursday, October 17, 2002 to deliver a fruit basket A return visit is scheduled for Sunday, October 20,2002. She was resting comfortably. She thanks the sorors for all the calls and concern and hope to be back soon,Soror Verlia Hoggard had outpatient shoulder surgery on Friday, October 18, 2002. She is home now and expects to be convalescing for about a week.Cards and flowers have been sent to these sorors from the chapter.Hospitality Report- Plans are in the works to distribute the secret soror forms at the next meeting. outpatient surgery on her shoulder on
Friday, October 1#*. A visit to her
home was made on Monday, October
21st. A card was mailed on behalf of

The phone is 794-0100. She is still
experiencing difficulties, possibly
from the dialysis treatments. Her
color is returning to her cheeks and
her spirit is feisty. She will be there
for approximately 2 weeks. Your
continued prayers and cards are
appreciated. I have made several
visits to her with cards and gifts from
the sorority.
Our Golden Soror Helen Jenkins is
very ill and recovering from brain
surgery. She is presently in a rehab
center. When I get more information

plans to be here if she is well enough.

who lost her brother this week to a long
illness. She is traveling to Detroit today
for the funeral that is scheduled for
Monday, December 9th. I left a message
to forward the family’s address to me so
that I may pass it along to those of you
