Public Hearing Set AMBULANCE SERVICE SOLICITORS LICENSE Mrs. Evelyn Lewis SOLICITORS LICENSE World Book Encyclopedia ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 100-21 Rejected Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved the request of the Young Electric Sign Co., 2535 E. Charleston Boulevard to connect to the sewer be referred to committee. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp passed his vote. The request of Mr. Harrison Stocks to lease a portion of City property described as the SE¼ of the SW¼ of Section 17, T21S, was discussed and referred to the City Attorney for preparation and presentation of the necessary lease. Commissioner Jarrett moved the public hearing on the appeal of J. T. Franklin on the denial of his application for Variance to permit the establishing and maintaining of a temporary outside storage yard at 109 South 12th Street be held July 1, 1953 at 7:30 P.M. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved the request of the Mercy Ambulance Service to secure one-third of the ambulance calls required by the Police and Fire Departments be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp passed his vote. No action was taken on the request of Mrs. Evelyn M. Lewis for reduction of the Solicitor’s license fee in order to sell Childcraft, until further information is received as to her method of selling, anticipated sales, etc. At this time Mrs. Larsen, one of the local representatives for World Book Encyclopedia appeared before the Board. No action was taken on this request for reduction of the solicitor's license fee until further information is provided. At this time Mr. Don Ashworth, spokesman for the property owners in Assessment District No. 100-21, appeared before the Board and presented the following resolution prepared by these interested parties: WHEREAS, the City Commissioners have presented a proposal for Assessment District No. 100-21 known as the Filbey Tract; and WHEREAS, the property owners of such District assembled together this evening, June 3, 1953, appreciate the effort and though that the Honorable Board of Commissioners have given to such District; But: WHEREAS, the property owners assembled this date feel that other improvements are necessary for the District other than those proposed; namely, sewer lines, curbing for streets, 35 foot paved street. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this body assembled, go on record of rejecting the Assessment proposed, and at this time appoint and elect the following property owners of the District to represent the group, namely, Paul McDermott, Don Ashworth, Frank Ryan, Dean Breeze, Helen Craner, for the purpose of meeting and presenting sound and economic proposals, working with the engineering and City Commissioners for the purpose of effecting the improvements desired by the majority of owners.
