    (CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING) A Special, meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada held this 8th day of March, 1956 was called to order at the hour of 4.30 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with with the following members present: Mayor C.D.Baker Commissioner E.W. Fountain Commissioner Harris P. Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager A.H. Kennedy City Engineer George E.Wade City Clerk Shirley Ballinger Absent: Commissioner Wendell Bunker Asst.City Mgr. Robert W. Notti Also Present: Municipal Judge S. George Gilson Chief of Police George W.Allen Jr. Architect Harry H. Whitely At this time the Commission inspected the preliminary plans for the expansion of the City Jail and Municipal Court with the Architect, Harry H. Whitely. Chief of Police George W. Allen and Municipal Judge S. George S. Gilson both indicated their approval of the preliminary plans for this expansion. Commissioner Sharp moved the preliminary plans for the expansion of the City Jail and Municipal Court as submitted by the architect be approved and the architect be notified in writing to proceed with the final working drawings and specifications to be presented not later than May 2, 1956 and the Director of Public Works be instructed to set the date for advertising and opening of bids for this construction on April 18, 1956. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Fountain, Sharp,Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting adjourned. Preliminary Plans for expansion of City Jail. C.D. BAKER, Mayor NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING TO: C.D. BAKER, Mayor and to WENDELL BUNKER, E.W. FOUNTAIN, HARRIS P. SHARP, REED WHIPPLE, Commissioners and A.H. KENNEDY, City Manager, ROBERT W. NOTTI, Assistant City Manager, and HOWARD W. CANNON, City Attorney of the City of Las Vegas. You and each of you will please take notice that pursuant to a call this day issued by Mayor Baker, a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, will be held in the Mayor's Office of the City Hall, 5th and Stewart, on the 8th day of March, 1956, at the hour of 4.30 P.M. to consider the following matters: 1. Preliminary Plans for expansion of City Jail SHIRLEY BALLINGER, City Clerk ACCEPTANCE OF NOTICE We, the undersigned Mayor, Commissioners, City Manager, Assistant City Manager and City Attorney of the City of Las Vegas do hereby admit due service of the fore­going notice of special meeting. /s/ C.D.
