Bingham and Olive Craig for permits to drill veils in the vicinity of Las Vegas. Mr. Bingham has subdivided an area vest of the Last Frontier Hotel and proposes to drill the veil for the benefit of the loc&ters within the Tract. The Craigs operate a ranch about four miles north of North City Limits and the proposed -well is to su p p le m e n t their present supply which la stated to be inadequate for their operation. Mr, Shamberger has been in the Las Vegas area for the past several days investigating the general water situations particularly in Paradise Valley, He is fully aware of the serious shortage in this area and stated he proposes upon his return to Carson City to discuss the subject with Geo. B. Maxey of the U. S. Geological Survey Bureau, who has made a study of the Las Vegas Valley Basin,with the view of determining the limits of the Basin, following which he proposes to restrict permits for all deep wells to use for domestic purposes and s t r i c t drilling for agricultural purposes to shallow wells. He further stated that the quantity of water authorized on application for a new well will be restricted to the amount of water required for each project. I •"
