Firestone Teen Dem Committee As we informed you by an earlier letter, the Joint Legisla?tive Support Committee of the Democratic Party of Nevada? a joint committee of both the state senior Democratic Party organization and the Nevada Young Democrats? vigorously supports action by the Nevada Legislature in the current special session for a legislative investigation of the Nevada State Prison. Recent events which have been reported by the news media indicate a threat to that legislative investigation and to its principal advocate, Clark County Assemblyman Flora Dupgan. Any action by the Assembly either to delay or to halt an investigation and any effort to silence or weaken Assemblyman Dungan's courageous leadership will, I am sure, meet with not only the outspoken opposition of this Committee but also that of a majority of Nevada citizens. As this Committee's Deputy Chairman stated last Friday, "Governor Paul Laxalt's action to exclude Assemblyman Flora Dungan from invesigating the State Prison is the most blatant and repressive relegation of the Legislature to the executive branch of state government."
