Los Angelas, Hay ST, 1954 l?4-g Hr* Calvin M. Cory* (ce - Mr* A* D. Hanson Mr. V* W* Smith Mr. K. A* Jurden Mr* L. R* Maag) Please refer to our previous correspondence concerning application which you filed with the State Engineer of Nevada on behalf of the Los Angeles & Salt Lake Railroad Company to transfer the point of diversion of i*§ c*f*s. of water now appropriated from Well Ho. 1 in the water field at Las Vegas. The new point of diversion covered by your application is the existing well of the Railroad Company in the shop grounds* 1 am advised that Boscoe Moss Company has made an attractive hid upon a second railroad stand-by well in the shop grounds by reason of the fact that that company’s equipment is already at Las Vegas drilling two wells for the LVL&V?Company. I presume this aid will hold good only if the driller a m promptly commence drilling of the new railroad well upon the completion of the two wells for the water Company* Accordingly 1 believe you should progress as quickly as possible the transfer of the present appropriation of 2*3 c*f*s* of water from Well Ho. 1 in the water field to the existing well and the additional stand-by well which will be drilled in the shop grounds. 1 see no reason for holding up the actual transfer of the appropriation to the new wells as soon as the State Engineer is in position to authorise the transfer* 1 am asking Mr* Hanson, to whom a copy of this letter is going, to advise us promptly when the contract is awarded to Boscoe Moss for the new well. I am asking Mr. Jurden, to whom a copy of this letter is going, to promptly furnish you a legal description of the location of the new well and a statement of what portion of the present appropriation of 2*5 c*f*s. of water should be transferred to the existing shop well and the portion which should be transferred to the new well.
