Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omega Chapter Executive Committee Meeting Scholarship Committee Report May 19, 1999
The Scholarship Committee co-chaired by Sorors Edna States and Willa White met at the home of Soror Willa White on May 4, 1999 at 6:00 p.m. In attendance were: Sorors Edna States, Willa White, Marian Burns, LaVonne Lewis, Lisa McNeil, Sharon Savage, and Billie Rayford.
Twenty-seven (27) applications were submitted. Of the twenty-seven (27), five (5) were disqualified for incomplete applications or failure to meet the minimum qualifications. Of the remaining applicants, the following are recommended for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omeqa scholarships totaling $3400:
Six (6) Book Awards of $100 each: Patrice Devine
Alana Dixon
Tiffany Evans
Shawntay Hawkins Naomi Shoeboot April Williams
Seven (7) Scholarships of $400 each:
Rasheeda Abdullah
LaToya Barber
Rashan Barnes LaToya Bembry Kristin Creo Victoria Franklin Samra Gherman
Committee assignments:
Soror States will notify schools of the scholarship recipients.
Soror McNeil will order the plaques.
Soror Burns will make the certificates.
Sorors Savage, McNeil, and Rayford will develop plans for the reception.
The committee recommends the following:
• Award certificates of participation to each applicant.

Present plaques to each scholarship recipient.
■
Award recognition certificate to each graduating AKATeen
■
Co-sponsor a scholarship recognition activity with Omega Psi Phi on June 19, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. at a location TBA.
■
Extend invitations to the family members of the scholarship applicants/recipients and AKATeens.
■
Utilize the funding set aside in the budget for the scholarship reception.
The meeting adjourned at 10:00 p.m.
