La® Vegas - March 10, 1953* Mr* Wm« Reinhardt - Los Angeles The rapid increase in growth in water distribution system at the present time and the increasing demand for immediate installation of service connections to recently constructed homes, as well as the large number of homes which are now under construction or contemplated within the next 90 days, indicate it will be impossible to meet the demand with our present equipment and field forces. The following tabulation shows the number of service connections for which we now have applications and also the number of connections which we anticipate will be required within the next 90 days! Applications on hand as of March 5» 1953*.»..*.^20 Applications anticipated for the next 90 daya..680 Total 1100 We now have three (3) trucks on hand, two of which are used principally on installation of service lines, the other one being used exclusively for repair work, with two crews using one truck each, we are only able to install an average of about 120 service connections per month. In view of the above I have already requisitioned one additional tapping machine and plan on employing two additional laborers, in addition to which I would like to request that you arrange WO authority to purchase one (1) additional 3/k Ton Chevrolet pick-up truck. In this connection I am also attaching hereto Form 2120, to temporarily reclassify two of my present crew, from laborer classification to water service repairman, which will provide 1 repairman for each of 3 tapping crews and 1 repairman for general repair work. 1 am advised by the local Chevrolet dealer that a 3/h ton pick-up truck will cost approximately fl865.00.
