Las Vegas - November 21, 1951 BD 1-18 Mr, L« A. Whites Referring to your letter of November 2, 1951, file BD-1-18 regarding uncollected water service accounts, Ae advised in ray letter of October 6, our checker was used almost continually through September and early part of October assisting Messrs, Casterline and Sauer In setting up and checking new Forms 2. During the progress of the work we had little opportunity to devote much time to these delinquent accounts. During the last part of October and through November we have been working on these accounts with the result that we have secured settlement of, or partial payments upon approximately one half of accounts listed In statement attached to your letter of November 2, Including about 35 of those indicated by J/. As accounts are not due until the 1st of the month following that in which accruals are taken Into our accounts It Is to be expected there will be a substantial amount reported at the end of each month as uncollected. Further accruals for September and October increased approximately $4000 per month which in part accounts for the increase In amount uncollected, The practice of many of our customers to pay quarterly, semi-annually and annually results in wide fluctuations in the amounts reported monthly as uncollected and payments in advance.
