DAVIS PRESIDENT January 7, 1986 The Honorable Chic Hecht United States Senate Washington, D.C. 20510 Dear Senator Hecht: On behalf of the American Nuclear Energy Council (ANEC), I would like to express our sincere appreciation for your leadership and support during the recent passage of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Amendments Act of 1985 and the accompanying regional compacts. Your efforts in support of this important legislation were instrumental in securing final passage by the Congress in the closing hours of the first session. This bipartisan Congressional action represents a major step forward in establishing a comprehensive and equitable program to manage the disposal of the nation's low-level nuclear waste. Once again, thank you for your support on this important legislation. The Council staff and I look forward to working with you in the second session of the 99th Congress on the implementation of this legislation as well as other nuclear energy related matters. Sincerely, Edward M. Davis
