I agree.m r racing sailor. The boats easily accomodate four persons, but when racing, a crew of two is used. Sunday*s race is expected to prove one of the year's best outrigger tests. Unpredictable winds and currents at Lake Mead may present a top challenge to the Californians who have never sailed in this area before. At present, three Las Vegas boats are being readied for next season and one outrigger is already being raced by a local crew. That boat, owned by Joe Buck, has proven a top competitor and is expected to prove to be a threat Sunday. Buck said that part of the reason for the race is to stimulate interest in sail racing throughout this area. "We hope it will convince others to take part in sail racing as a family recreation and recreation sailing as a hobby," Buck said. The Sands race Sunday is expected to attract a number of television and motion picture personalities who are club members and interested outrigger sailors. The races will begin at 1 p.m. near the Lake Mead Marina and will be visable from many areas near the marina basin.
