Purpose A. To establish an experience based system of compensation that will incorporate a cap on Grants-in-Aid awarded to CSUN Officers. II. Structure A. Any matriculated CSUN member who is hired, appointed or elected to an office after April 28th, 2008 [November 1, 2008] shall be subject to this bylaw. B. No CSUN Official shall receive a fee waiver in excess of 12 credits per semester during their tenure [and 3 credits during the entire Summer Session during each year of service as a CSUN Official.] to be paid for by CSUN. 1. Upon completion of a CSUN Officials' first year of service, they shall be entitled to the full fee waiver amount of any future position that they hold. C. Executive Board: Shall receive no more than 12 credits per Fall and Spring Semester to be paid for by CSUN. 1. For the Summer Session (Mid-May to Mid-August) the Executive Board may receive no more than a 3 credit fee waiver during that time. D. Directors: Shall receive no more than a 9 credit fee waiver per semester to be paid for by CSUN; during that individuals' first year as a director. 1. From the point of confirmation of a director's second year, they shall receive a fee waiver of 12 credits per semester, to be paid for by CSUN. 2. [From the point of confirmation of a director's second year, the Director will be eligible to receive a 3 credit waiver for the Summer Session if that individual has been confirmed by the CSUN Senate in time to attend in its' entirety, (1) one of the 3 Summer Terms available.] E. Assistant Directors: Shall receive no more than a 6 credit fee waiver per semester, to be paid for by CSUN, during that individuals' tenure as an Assistant Director. [This position shall not be eligible for Summer Session Fee Waivers. Individual is empowered to utilize their 3 credit fee waiver for Summer usage.] F. Senate: Shall receive no more than a 3 credit fee waiver per semester to be paid for by —CSUN, during that individuals' first year as a senator. 1. From the point of completion of one full year of service within the senate, they shall receive a fee waiver of 6 credits per semester, to be paid for by CSUN. G. Justices: Shall receive no more than a 3 credit fee waiver per semester to be paid for by CSUN, during that individuals' tenure as a justice. [This position shall not be eligible for additional Summer Session Fee Waivers. Individual is empowered to utilize their 3 credit fee waiver for Summer usage.] H. Pro Tempore (Senate, Vice President): Shall receive no more than a 9 credit fee waiver per semester to be paid for by CSUN, during that individual's tenure as a Pro Tempore. [This position shall not be eligible for additional Summer Session Fee Waivers. Individual is empowered to utilize any portion of their 9 credit fee waiver for Summer usage.] I. Chief Counsel: Shall receive no more than a 9 credit fee waiver per semester to be paid for by CSUN, during that individuals' tenure as a Chief Counsel. [This position shall not be eligible for Summer Session Fee Waivers. Individual is empowered to utilize any portion of their 9 credit fee waiver for Summer usage.] Senate Statute- 950.02 Attachment: 38.21.02 950.02 Fee waivers as compensations: CSUN shall pay up to, but not in excess of, forty two (42) semester credits [27 semester credits per academic year for President, Vice President, Senate President and Director positions. Directors during their first year of service in CSUN shall be eligible to receive no more than 21 credits/12 credits per academic year for Senator positions and Assistant Directorships/ 6 credits for Justices] for whom a fee waiver has been approved. All fee waivers must be approved by the Senate except as defined in the CSUN Constitution and/or bylaws. Attachment_3 8-21-03 Senate Bylaw 90 CSUN Study Abroad Scholarship I. At the time of formulating each CSUN fiscal budget, $20,000.00 from the total CSUN budget received from student fees shall be transferred to the UNLV Student Financial Services Department under the name of the CSUN Study Abroad Scholarship. II. The monies therein shall be awarded to undergraduate students who will be participating in a UNLV sponsored study abroad program, as determined by the CSUN Scholarship Committee (See Bylaw 69 CSUN Scholarship Committee). A. The committee's first meeting for the scholarship shall be in September of each year and the committee's final decisions must be reached by the first Monday of March for Summer sessions awards, the first Monday of April for Fall semester awards, and the first Monday of October for Spring semester awards; B. The committee, through the assistance of the Office of International Programs and UNLV Student Financial Services Department, shall request, receive, and review all applications for scholarships; C. The committee shall establish denominations of awards, the number of scholarships to be awarded, and determine scholarship winners; D. One member of the committee will be from the UNLV Office of International Programs and shall be an ex-officio, non-voting member of the committee; E. Scholarships will be distributed in three (3) parts, one third (1/3) will be awarded for the Fall semester, one third (1/3) will be awarded for the Spring semester, and one third (1/3) will be awarded for the Summer sessions; F. Students attending USAC programs but not enrolled through UNLV are not eligible for scholarships through UNLV; G. Students attending study abroad programs not sponsored by UNLV are not eligible for the CSUN Study Abroad Scholarship; H. Students attending study abroad "tours" or programs of less than 1 month are not eligible for the CSUN Study Abroad Scholarship; Attachment_3 8-21-03 I. Students who fail to attend or withdraw from study abroad programs will be required to repay any scholarship awards; J. Any un-awarded fund will be distributed evenly among approved award recipients; K. The UNLV Student Financial Services Department will distribute all CSUN Scholarships in accordance with Nevada System of Higher Education and UNLV guidelines; III. The CSUN Study Abroad Scholarship shall be awarded on the following basis: A. All scholarship recipients must have a minimum cumulative UNLV G.P.A. of 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 at the time of application; B. All scholarships are contingent upon acceptance to one of the UNLV sponsored study abroad programs, admission to UNLV during the term the scholarship is awarded, continued eligibility for scholarships, and satisfactory completion of the study abroad program; C. Satisfactory completion of a brief (1 page, single spaced) typed essay outlining your reasons for interest in studying abroad, why you have chosen the study abroad program you plan to attend, what personal and academic goals do you hope to achieve by studying in the program you have selected, and how do you expect to use the knowledge and experience gained through study abroad in your chosen career; D. Students must satisfactory complete and submit a UNLV Office of International Programs-created study abroad budget with their scholarship application; E. CSUN officials currently receiving a stipend and/or fee waiver are eligible to compete for these scholarships, provided that they do not apply for a stipend position for the following year; F. If after receiving a scholarship, a recipient receives a fee waiver and/or stipend from CSUN prior to the beginning of an academic semester, he/she forfeits the reminder of the scholarship; G. Any forfeited monies shall be returned to Student Financial Services for distribution in the following academic year;
