    The Doolittle Community Center staff is currently in the process of organizing its 20th annual
    Black History Week program. This year, the program consists of a luncheon for seniors on
    February 18; Gospel Night on February 19; Talent Night on February 21; and a Youth Dance on
    February 22.
    At this time, I am inviting you to participate in this year's activities. If any talented individual in
    your organization would like to participate in Gospel Night or Talent Night, please fill out the
    enclosed form and return it to the Doolittle Community Center at 1940 N. "J" Street, or fax it to
    646-4137.

    Dear Sorority & Fraternity Member,
    1 he West Las Vegas Arts Center invites you to “Halley’s Comet” starring Emmy Award-
    Nominee John Amos, best known for his portrayal as Kunta Kin to in Alex Halley’s
    “Roots’’ and the lovable but hard-nosed father James Evans on the television series Good
    Times. “Halley’s Comet,” also written and directed by Mr. Amos, is destined to become a
    classic.
    John Amos will perform “Hailey’s Comet” on February 28 and March 1, 1997 at 8 p.m.
    Tickets are $15 general admission.
    “Halley’s Comet” has received an impressive response from the various arts agencies. The
    production is co-sponsored with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District with
    additional funding from the Nevada Humanities Committee, Citi-Bank, the Greenspun
    Family Foundation, Clark County District Courts, and the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino.
    We are also pleased to share with you that Mr. Amos is also scheduled to conduct a
    symposium with our community youth in the middle schools as a special outreach activity.
    Your participation in our advance ticket sales promotion will help us secure a successful
    event. We would appreciate your efforts in selling a block of at least 10 tickets. By advance
    arrangements, a group discount of 15% for 20 or more persons is available. An
    acknowledgement of your patronage will be included in the John Amos “Halley’s Comet'W
    program. Please respond by February 15, 1997.
