Al Freeman / Sands Hotel / Las Vegas, Nevada For release: Upon receipt ISRAEL PEACE RALLY FOR LAS VEGAS TO BE STAGED HERE MONDAY NIGHT Las Vegas, Nevada (June 9) An Israel Peace Day Rally will be staged in Las Vegas Monday, June 12th, at 3:30 PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Sands Hotel, it was announced today by the Nevada Committee to Support Israel headed by A1 Benedict, Jack Entratter, and Hank Greenspvtn. Governor Paul Laxalt, Lt. Governor Ed Fike, Senators Alan Bible and Howard Cannon, and Congressman Walter Baring are expected to attend, coming from Carson City and Washington, D.C. especially for this occasion. The rally is similar to events being staged all over the free / world in an effort to enlist funds and resolutions that can help Israel protect its territorial integrity when the United Nations gather at the armistice table to dictate and delineate new boundries. The rally, to which all Jews and non-Jews in the community are invited, is the answer by Las Vegas to the urgent situation that exists now in the State of Israel since its lightning blitz of the Arab forces that threatened its annihilation, just last week. -more- Reports coming here from Israel and New York indicate that the food and medical supplies of that free nation are badly depleted and that the agricultural and industrial activities of the nation are almost at a standstill. The "Star Spangled Banner" will open the rally at 8:30 PM and will be sung by Bob Fletcher, accompanied by Dave Burton and his orchestra. All the stars on the Strip and the downtown casinos have been invited to appear at the rally after their first shows. Mayor Oran Gragson will issue a proclamation sometime this weekend, marking Monday as "Israel Peace Day" it was learned late Friday. The main speaker at the rally will be Rev. Doctor Carl Herman Voss, a clergyman who returned from Israel only last week. At the rally an urgent appeal for funds will be made, trying to reach a quota of $500,000 set for Las Vegas by American Jewish leaders. Quotas for Jewery in every free nation in the world have been set and are being met in a tremendously emotional response to the crisis now facing Israel, with the money going only to take care of its economic needs and not for arms or weapons, # # # #
