Halsted: I am enclosing you two copies of le tte r I received from the State Engineer re la tiv e to proof o f appropriation of the waters of the Las Vegas Big Springs* judgment we should f i l e proof of appropriation of our vested right to the Las Vegas Spring as of March 1, 1905. From our own knowledge there was a user of a l l of the waters flowing from Las Vegas Spring fo r several years prior to March 1, 1905 on the Las Vegas ranch and a p a rtia l user at least as fa r back as the la tte r six tie s* For this purpose, i t w ill be necessary to have a survey and a cultural map prepared, showing the number of acres irrig a te d in each fo rty (40) acre subdivision upon which water has been applied, showing character of $>rops, etc*, and the location, size and carry­ing capacity of the ditch or ditches. I t w ill be neeessary to have the State Engineer appoint one of our engineers as a "State Water righ t surveyor" and we can arrange fo r this ap­pointment and the qu alification on the blanks that w ill be furnished by the State Engineer, map and data requirements* We should also have the fo llo w ­ing data accurately: (1) The amount of the uniform flow of the water from Las Vegas Springs.
