I think it might be desirable for me to b r i e f l y state the position of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company in connection with investigation now being held by the Nevada Public Service Commission. We are in sympathy with the concern displayed by the City officials and the people of Las Yegas concerning their water supply. Initially, I assure you that the Water Company has throughout its existence cooperated with the City in every way in connection with the improvements of its facilities and its service and we intend to continue that practice. Illustrative of this point is the fact that we have over the past few years, completely rebuilt the distributing system of the Water Company in the City of Las Vegas, replacing all old redwood and wrought iron pipes with modern cast-iron until, at the present time, the distributing system is relatively a new system. In addition, we have installed larger water mains in the business district pursuant to the suggest-ioj^ s^^the fire underwriters; we have increased our storage J and have constructed circulating systems in the outlying territories to improve pressure, replacing many formerly dead-end systems. We think our little water company has a reasonable right to take pride in the fact that it has not only provided an adequate supply of high quality water, but has done it very generously as to amount and xdiat is further to the point, at -1-
