I agree.FREE/tfhN COMPANY mm 3/13/57 Mr. Arthur Konvitx X A/\ C%\X Dear Arthurs It was nice talking to you on the phone this morning, and I will work up all the plans I can for the Telethon real soon. Meanwhile, here is some more information regarding my request for your help in getting Mayor Briscoe of Dublin to Las Vegas for a special fund-raising dinner ?╟÷?╜ Msgr. John Ryan, a very dear friend of nine, is the head of St. Anne's Parish in Las Vegas and has done some remarkable work in building bully needed worship and educational facilities in this area. Father Ryan, as I still like to call him because he has been s great inspira- tion to me here, is the brother of the wife of Sean Russell, who fought with Mayor Briscoe during the Irish Civil War. Russell and Briscoe, as I understand it, were very close and were both assigned to get arms for the revolution upon the instructions of DeValera, Russell also was the head of the GPO under Briscoe and was killed by the British government shortly before World War II. His widow, who is Father Ryan's sister, is named Alice and is still living but X do not know where* I was thinking if we could get the information to Mayor Briscoe that the brother-in-law of his best and most trusted lieutenant is the head of a fine parish that needs help in building a convent here, Mayor Briscoe might see fit to honor Father Ryan with a visit. I believe it would be a good plan to have a $100-a-plate dinner in Las Vegas, with half the money going to Father Ryan's convent for his St. Anne's Parish aid half the money going to help furnish ??ur badly needed synagogue in Las Vega#. 9508 WILSHIRE BLVD. ?╟≤ BEVERLY HILLS, CAL. ?╟≤ BRADS HAW 2-86 1 1
