Dear s i r :- Replying to Mr.Barry’ s le tt e r of the 9th in s t ., re lative to the above subject, I beg to say that this o ffic e has frequently so lic ite d a conference with the Attorneys fo r the Standard O il Co. with a view of discussing the question involved in this matter, and while such conference has been promised, none has ever been had, fo r some reason unexplained.
