BIOGRAPHY OF MURIEL STEVENS Newspaper columnist, author, radio and TV Show hostess, community leader, gourmet cook, former consumer member of the Nevada Dairy Commission, that's Muriel Stevens. For eight years Muriel has been the hostess of a daily one-hour radio program which dealt with food, nutrition, con?sumer problems,featured guests and on-air phone conversations with listeners. Most recently, Muriel completed an appointment by President Gerald Ford to the Presidential Consumer Advisory Council. She was one of twelve persons throughout the nation who served on this Council. She was a columnist for the Las Vegas Sun, with a potpourri of news, consumer information, community activities, recipes, book reviews, and anything else of general interest to the public. As hostess of "The Muriel Stevens Show", a nationally syn?dicated television program featuring celebrity guests cooking their favorite recipes, the show reflects Muriel's philosophy that anything you do should be done with love. She is a member of Les Amis d' Escoffier Gourmet Society and Les Amis de Vin. Her varied roles have won her many honors, including the "Today's Woman" Award from the National Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., which has previously honored such distinguished women as Eleanor Roosevelt, Dr. Margaret Mead, and Senator Margaret Chase Smith. Additionally, Muriel Stevens has been the recipient of many awards for her charitable and civic work from organizations such as the Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Heart Fund, among others. She received the First Annual Achievement Award presented by the Nevada Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television in 1973, in recognition of her outstanding achievements in broadcasting and community relations. Among her achievements is the publication of "The Muriel Stevens Cookbook", a collection of favorite recipes, both her own and those of guests who have appeared on her radio and television programs. Currently Muriel is writing for the East/West Network which are in-flight airline magazines. Some of the airlines include United, Air West and Delta. As an adjunct, she is.responsible for the selection of the United Airlines Mainliner, "Excellence in Dining" Awards.
