L ob Angeles, December 24, 1924. W.O. 4824 Mr. H. C. Mann: Referring to your letter of the 10th and ray letter of the 15th addressed to Mr. Halsted with copy to your office regarding location of new well at Dry Lake. Mr. Halsted has sent me a copy of a letter from Mir. MeUamee closing paragraph of which reads as follows: '•’If you will kindly have Mr. Mann furnish me with the data requested in ray letter to Hr. Maguire of July 17th, a copy of which was furnished you, and you advise, we will proceed to file application with the State Engineer and also procure from Mr. Blanding and his associates a lease or quit claim deed for such record title as they may have perfected as placer claimants to the surface ground in question.” In this connection please be referred to Mr. Maguire’s file 734, July 14th in reply to ray letter July 11th. Mr. Maguire indicated that he was arranging for preparation of a filing map to cover the pipe line extending beyond ou¥ right of-way and expressed opinion that Law Department should prepare necessary application papers. Upon receipt of Mr. Maguire’s recommendation, copy of which was sent to Mr . Halsted I xvrote the latter in part as follows: ’’Under the circumstances it would now seem proper to proceed with filing of application to State Engineer as suggested in Mr. McUaraee’s memorandum June 6th." Evidently Mr. Halsted referred the matter to Mr. Mclamee and he
