October 21, 1953 7331+ MEMO FOR FILE: Attached is copy of Storekeeper McGhie*s letter to Mr. F. E. Cragin at Los Angeles dated January 21, 1953> giving list of transits pipe and couplings on hand at Las Vegas, Nevada. For a number of years the Store Department has been requested to carry in stock at Las Vegas a supply of transits pipe and fittings for use in maintaining the water line in connection with production of water at Las Vegas. Now that the title to the water production facilities has been transferred from the Railroad Company to Las Vegas Land and Water Company, Mr. Maag has raised the question (over the telephone) as to whether or not he should make a requisition on the Storekeeper at Las Vegas and take into LVL&WCo. stock on hand this transits material so that it could be included in the inventory of material and supplies to be turned over to Las Vegas Valley Water District when the District purchases the water production and distribution facilities under the Bond Issue recently voted. Inasmuch as transite material is required for the maintenance of water production facilities no doubt the Water District will desire to maintain a stock on hand, the same as has been done by the Railroad Company, and it would appear that Mr. Maag should contact Mr. Campbell of the Water District and furnish him a list of material carried on hand by the Railroad Company and have him select the items which he thinks the Water District will want transferred to them with the other material and supplies of the LVL&WCo. and then have Mr. Maag requisition these items from the Storekeeper and placed in LVL&WCo. stock. When the Water District selects the items they will want we should then ascertain at what price they should be charged by the Railroad Company so we could advise the Water District the value of this material when it is transferred from the Water District upon completion of the transaction. Surplus material not desired by the Water District should be disposed of by the Railroad Company as surplus material. Orig. on 733M Copy on 1-7331* L.Ce.C
