January XI, 1943 Dr* Douglas L« Gamette, Chief Surgeon, Dos Angeles, California, Dear Dr* Ga/ziettej feat year during the summer and later in the Fall two of our employes, Mies Helen Fitzgerald who has been in the service five years and later Mr* A. M. Folger, my Assistant and Superintendent of the Las Vegas land and Water Company, were both required to undergo major operations which were performed by Dr. Shuler Fagan* Dr. Fagan has for years been Mr* Folger*s physician and you are undoubtedly familiar with Mias Fitzgerald*a operation as she was under your care two years previous to that time* They are both baofc at work now and have been for many months seemingly in perfect health, but I am writing you for information in regard to a refund of their hospital iaat ion as they have both been paying into the hospital fund, Miss Fitzgerald for five years and Mr. Folger for over twenty years. They were hospitalized at the Hollywood Hospital during the time of their ill* ness. I am enclosing herewith the bills for this hospitalization and if not able to refund to them the different amounts could not a part of the same be refunded? Two years ago whan I was hospitalized and operated on by Dr. Sturgeon in the Good Samaritan Hospital as I remember it I received the larger portion of my hospital bills, not including of course the doctor*® fee, nurses, or other charges incident thereto. Any advice you can give me in connection with this would be very gratefully received* Very truly yours, ' "’w a ! K r r . b h a Ck e ^. P.S. Tou will remember in the case of Miss Fitzgerald, she was taken violently ill while at work in the office and I made every effort to locate you that Saturday, August 1, 1943, and X later had phone conversation with Dr. Gibson and he advised that he was leaving the following Monday to be inducted into the Army. Miss Fitzgerald therefore had to seek relief from other sources*
