Master Mechanic Morris states that his attention was drawn by Fire Chief at Las Vegas to the fact that there was no fir e protection at Roundhouse Foreman’ s o ff ic e , and as the water lin e which had been la id was equipped with tees, Hr* Morris personally authorized Fire Chief Hilke putting on the hydrants and 2” garden valves and 6 f t , o f 2" pipe requisitioned and charged to OE 235, and labor to the extent o f 45” time spent in putting on these hydrants. these hydrants was for the purpose o f providing adequate fir e fighting fa c i lit ie s , in fa c t , it was only on account o f the Fire C hief’ s con­versation with Hr. Morris that the matter came up. dling this work and assures me that he now thoroughly understands the situation as regards unauthorised expenditures and further assures me that a l l his foremen are well versed in the instructions that no work o f Oils kind can be done without proper authority.
