At a total cost of $2067.75 to CSUN, beginning Friday, December 7 and continuing through Friday December 14: . Extend full-use library hours an additional 14 hours, using students and classified staff as each service area requires. Total hours to be extended - 14 Student coverage required - 7 students (98 person hours) @ $6.00/hr (includes 2 computer lab tutors) Student Security Monitor for special weekend coverage - 1 student for 9 hours @ $6.50/hr Library staff overtime coverage required - 3 staff (14 person hours) @ variable overtime rates depending on salary of specific staff member Approximate funding needed: $846.50 Library students $420.00 Computer Lab Tutors $168.00 Student Security Monitor $ 58.50 Staff $200.00 . Provide study hall facility in the Reserve Reading Room during the hours the rest of the library is closed, thereby providing 24-hour access to a secure study area. No other service areas in the library will be available for use. Motion passed by voice vote. IV. ANNOUNCEMENTS SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE BENNEMAN stated that he is putting the final touches to the retreat for the spring semester. He stated that the tentative date is for the first weekend in February, and that he is working on arranging university vehicles for transportation. SENATE PRESIDENT POLOVINA stated that the NCAA decision is excit-ing, and that she was called by Channel 3 concerning the deci-sion. She stated that she hopes the team does well. She in-formed the Senate that the Business Manager Search is going slower than originally anticipated, and that there have been problems with the Affirmative Action office that has slowed the search down. She stated that outside of the Yellin1 Rebel, the Student Government1s reputation has been lowered to a substan-dard. She stated that the Senate will be run in a much more for-mal manner, to encourage a more professional manner, as the meet-ings have been getting way out of hand. V. Ricci, who left the room. C. Approval of the 21st Senate Session Senate Rules. Motion to approve by Sen. Bunin. Motion to amend to delete items 2 and 3 from Section A, to have Section B item 1 to read: "Class appearances shall be scheduled with the R & E committee." and to have Seciton B item 3 to read: "The Rules Committee will schedule the required two [2] ap-pearances withing the first four [4] weeks of both the Fall and Spring semesters. During the first four [4] weeks after becoming appointed, the Senator will be required to make two [2] class ap-pearances before the end of the semester." Sen. Ricci returned to the meeting. She thanked Director Rosenberg for her work on the budget amendment, and asked if females have to walk to their cars alone during extended library hours and was informed that student security will be available. SENATOR ORTEGA congratulated Sen. Romero and Sen. Kannenburg. She stated that she will have a sign-up sheet for volunteers for the Snow Spectacular. She asked everyone to rent the video "Soul of the Demon" from VideoTyme when it is released. She then stated that she is in it. SENATOR KOSTMAN welcomed the new Senators, and stated that the Senate should show more respect to the Chair by both being quiet and on time to the meetings. SENATOR ADAIR congratulated Senators Romero and Kannenburg. SENATOR JENSEN congratulated the new Senators, and asked if the intramural football team who wins the tournament will be supplied SENATE MEETING 21-04 6 IX. OPEN DISCUSSION, CONTINUED. with funds for the tournament in New Orleans. SENATOR LOVE congratulated the new Senators, and requested that the UNR Studeny Body President, Jason Gettys, speak. UNR STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT GETTYS spoke. SENATOR LOVE stated that Director Rosenberg's report was very well done, and that Director Smith's hard work is appreciested. SENATOR YOUNG welcomed Senators Kannenburg and Romero, and stated that he was embarrassed that he did not know where the recycling bins are at UNLV, and was unable to inform a woman that asked him about it the other day. He told everyone to rent Senator Ortega's movie as she meets a nasty death. SENATOR TOMORY congratulated the new Senators, and thanked Pres. Gettys. He stated that it is nice to see stuff from the Ap-propriations Board Committee. He stated that we will all miss Director Smith, and he wishes her loves and hugs. SENATOR KANNENBURG thanked the Senate for appointing him, and stated that he is looking forward to working with everyone. SENATOR ROMERO thanked the Senate and stated that they made good decisions. He thanked President Gettys. SENATOR MAULTSBY congratulated the new Senators and welcomed Pres. Gettys. SENATOR FINMARK congratulated Senator Romero and Senator Kannen-burg and wished them well on the Senate. She encouraged all to sign up for committees, thanked Director Rosenberg, stated that she hopes the Senate gets a new Business Manager soon, thanked Pres. Gettys, and stated that she is anxious for Sen. Tomory's report on China. SENATOR RICCI congratulated the new Senators, congratulated Sen. Kostman for being the bachelor to receive the highest bid at the ATO Bachelor Auction, and stated that she was disappointed to see no commentary on the last meeting in the Yellin' Rebel. She asked the Senate President what type of presents to bring. SENATOR FIELD congratulated the new Senators and wanted to know how many Senators know what the "Q" is [in an informal poll]. SENATOR ROTH congratulated Senators Romero and Kannenburg, and stated that it was a close election for both seats. SENATOR REED welcomed the new Senators aboard. SENATOR BUNIN stated that he was glad that the Quicksilver was changed to the "Q", welcomed the new Senators, thanked Pres. Get-tys for his attendance, stated that he is looking forward to Sen. Ortega's movie, and wished Director Smith the best, stating that he is looking forward to her safe return. SENATOR LEE congratulated and welcomed the new Senators and wished Director Smith the best, and a safe return. FROM THE GALLERY: DIRECTOR ROSENBERG asked Senator Finmark why she voted 'no' on the budget amendment but not on the approval of money, and was told that it would be discussed after the meeting. DIRECTOR YNIGUES stated that Assistant Director Fitzpatrick asked him to remind the Senate that Saturday is the Comedy Concert with Tommy Davidson and the Guy Spy. He thanked the Senate for the approvals for the "Q", and stated that Director Smith will be missed, that few know what it is like to be waiting to get shot at, and that this is the first time it really hit home, as he SENATE MEETING 21-04 7 IX. CHIEF JUSTICE BARCLAY congratulated the new Senators, and advised everyone to think of Director Smith, but to also think of Direc-tor Menez, who is having a lot of medical problems, and that all should wish her the best. FROM THE EXECUTIVES: SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE BENNEMAN stated that the Senate must work at points of order, and that respect must be shown to the Chair. He stated that he was at Pres. Maxson's Advisory Council which decided that a summer tuition hike was needed to make Sum-mer Sessions self sufficient. He congratulated the new Senators, and told them to get involved and to really put some time into it. PRESIDENT BUNIN congratulated Senator Kannenburg and Senator Romero, thanked President Gettys for coming and staying longer to the meeting than he did, and stated that UNR's government is ex-cellent. He stated that the "Q" is a literary magazine that gives amature writers a non-paying opportunity to get published. He told everyone to see Tommy Davidson and the Guy Spy. He stated that he wishes Director Menez the best, and that she is depressed about her illness at this time. He stated that out thoughts and prayers are with Director Smith at this time. SENATE PRESIDENT POLOVINA congratulated the new Senators and stated that if they have any questions to please see her or Sen. Pres. Pro Tem Benneman. She stated that Pres. Gettys attendance is appreciated. She told everyone to spread the word about Tommy Davidson and the Guy Spy, and that tickets go on sale tomorrow.
