m > Las Vegas - April 23, 1952 Mr* V/bu Reinhardt * Los Angeles eat Mr* 1* E. Bennett There have been several resent purchases of acreage along both sides of Highway 91 extending from B nanza Road to the Morth Las Vegas City Limit, It is probable that in the near future the water Company will be requested to extend its mains to serve this area which is indicated by green out-line on Map No* 1, Mr. M. M* Sweeney, Vice-president of the Pioneer Title Insurance and Trust Company of Las Vegas, and a group of associates have acquired and propose to subdivide the ^0 acre tract, indicated by red outline on the attached map marked No.l, at the intersection of Highway 95 (Tonopah Road) and Bonanza Road into one-half acre hoaesites and to construct approximately 6o homes in the tract. At Mr* Sweeney*s request, X prepared a water main layout as indicated by green line on attached map marked Mo* 2 which layout included a 108 main extending along Highway 95 to the intersection of Beverly Drive so as to provide sufficient capacity to serve property beyond and advised Mr, Sweeney we estimated the coat as follows* Construct water mains $37 ^00 Construct fire hydrant ooneotlons 1 100 Total #38 500 of which amount, pursuant to Nevada Public Service Commission Rule 9# #37 fcOG would be subject to refund during following ten-year period. I t .is estimated that baaed upon present rates, the refund would amount to approximately |8 000, which amount would be increased proportionately in event our rates are increased. Mr. Sweeney and his associates advise they do not feel they should be required to bear the cost of providing service to the area beyond their subdivision and as an alternate, submitted layout as indicated in red line on Map Mo* 2, which will adequately serve the subdivision, but eliminates, that portion of the 10“ main in Highway 95 between Bonanza Road and Intersection of Beverly Drive. The estimated cost of the alternate proposal is as follows: Construct water mains 130 Construct fire hydrant connection 1 100 Total #31 750 Mr. Sweeney advises they will agree to bear the cost of alternate layout and donate the lines #0 the Water Company without refund*
