W* Gragin, Mayor of las Vegas, las Vegas, levada* •Dear Sir: For ready reference, I am quoting below my letter of May 5th, 1934, with regard to the waste of water in las Vegas: "Soring the past two or three years, we have been continually receiving complaints from water consumers about their neighbors permitting water to rial over a long period of time, flooding their streets and alleys and causing a deterioration of their street paving, stagnant pools and had odors, and ditches at street crossings fall of water splashing on ears and causing a hazard to pedes­trians , "Inasmuch as the water is sold to the people of Las Vegas ©n a flat rate w© have found it is of no avail to make request on the parties who cause these complaints, and w® are unable to assist the Gity and property owners in stopping this bad practice* "We are passing this Information to you, as the Gity seems to be the only one who can take the neeessary action to protect the street paving and other public properties which are being damaged by this misuse of"water, "It will be appreciated if you will take sou® action through your Street Department to assist property owners so they will not be compelled to bring their troubles to this office, inasmuch as we are unable to help the® in any way." - 1
