Dear S ir: Please re fe r to your Order dated March IB, 1946* entitled* "The Disinfection of New and Repaired Water L in es.B With reference to the ohlorlnatlon of new pipe lin es now being constructed by our Company at Las Vegas, we are informed by Dr. T. £. Morgan* City Health Of fle e r at Las Vegas* that i t is the current practice, when making bacteriological tests of water from new lin es to secure samples and forward them to the Reno, laboratory fo r analysis vhleh w ill* no doubt* require several days time before resu lts can be obtained. The water to be obtained from new f a c ilit i e s now being constructed is urgently needed in Las Vegas before the hot weather starts* and every e ffo r t is being made to connect the new supply with existing distribution lin e s by June 1st. Our construction schedule is such* however, that i t w ill be necessary to expedite every operation required for it s completion by that date. In our conference with Dr. Morgan regarding the testing of water from the new f a c i li t i e s , he advised that* subject to your instructions, he could make the bacteriological examination ana analysis with local fa c ilit i e s , which would no doubt save several days time in determining the re su lts. In view of the urgency of this matter we would greatly appreciate i f you would designate Dr. Morgan* or his lo c a l repre­sentative* to oonduot the tests lo o a lly . Yours‘very tru ly,
