Los Angeles - August 5» 1944 Mr. Walter H. Bracken: Referring to your letter August 3rd, file W 23-3-3, concerning water pressures in the Vegas. distributing* system at Las Messrs. Kahler and Adamson recommended, for immediate relief, that we change the runners on the Byron Jackson booster pumps, replaoe the 50 HP motors and 75 HP motors, also replacing the 50HP motor starters with 75 HP motor starters, estimated to oost $4,000. this expenditure was authorized by Mr. Ashby, and we Immediately placed order with Byron Jackson Co., whioh Co. advises 12 to 15 weeks delivery. Byron Jackson will not promise earlier delivery, but will do everything possible to advance the date. The report also reoommended that we provide in the 1945 Budget an item for 12* line in Clark Street from the alley east of 5th Street to extend to the alley east of l4th Street, and another 12* line connected therewith in the alley east of 12th Street extending southerly to the S* pipe in Charleston Blvd; also, the 12" line in Stewart Street from the S* line in the alley east of 5th Street extending easterly to the alley east of, 10th Street. . Another 12* line is recommended from Main and Clark Sts, southerly to Main and Charleston Blvd. Map will be furnished you shortly showing the location of these three lines, and we will ask for estimate of cost. We fully appreciate the inconvenience to the residents in those parts of town where the pressure Is low, but the customers will have to understand we are doing everything possible and will give them relief as soon as materials are available.
