New Water Well Cleaning Method Reported Found | SEATTLE, March 26 (A5)—A new cure for “sick” water wells |mer which makes use of “vibratory, explosives” t o . shake loose obstructions was described today before: the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. ! Harvey A. Mylander, district engineer' of water supply anaj lysts, South Pasadena,' Cal., said water yield has been increased as much a s -300% in treated wells. | The process calls for the use of small explosive charges spaced in the wall casing and detonated at calculated time intervals. These produce contin-j uing shock waves lasting a fairly long time. ' The respiting vibration dislodges obstructions and, cleans out clogged perforations in the well, casing, permitting a greater flow of water. Mylander, said, that compared to the old practice of “shooting a well” with explosives this system was similar to using repeated blows of a machinist’s hammer- to remove scale from pipe instead of a-single blow from a sledge ham-j / r w W/M . p WlftR 2 7 IIP V S W . / L / C 3 At 1 -
