'trtrf&mtof T>r, Qobbnun fXLcJb^ JfafyMutnidi Dear Members of the Clark County School District Board of Trustees: As the chairperson of the Community Relations Committee of the Coalition of Clark County School District Jewish Employees, I wish to express my concern about the proliferation of events of a religious nature that have become embedded in in board regulations and policies. This proliferation has also become manifest in activities of individual board members. While under the guise of being "religiously neutral," they are nothing but an attempt to promote the religious views of one religion to the exclusion of others. I am aware that there have been some court cases which may seem to promote neutrality toward religion. However, every child, regardless of his religious beliefs or lack of them, should not be placed in a situation where the child is made to feel uncomfortable because he is not a part of what is clearly the majority religion. It is widely acknowledged that members of minority religions would risk scorn and ridicule were they to attempt to initiate some of the religious activities under the guise of student initialed neutral terminology. I respectfully request that the board look very closely at all policy and procedures regarding any religious activities in the Clark County School District so that the rights of every child whether Catholic, Protestant, Mormon, Jew, Moslem, Buddhist, agnostic, or atheist are safeguarded.
