Fwd: Buchenwald Subject: Fwd: Buchenwald From: Gab Borenstein ? Date: 7/14/2013 4:47 AM Hello! So as you all know, I am currently in Germany. Today I visited Buchenwald. It was truly an empowering experience, though quite scary. Attached are some pictures. The first picture is on the gate entering Buchenwald. It reads, to each his own, this basically means everyone here is going to get what they deserve. The words can only be read from inside the gate. The second picture is of the torture chambers. I still don't know how I got enough courage to go in there. It was one of the most scary experiences I have ever had. While we were in there, I was shaking from head to know and silently shed a few tears. While Marcus and Hanna (the people who I'm staying with) walked through there looking in every room the prisoners stayed in, I could not bring myself to look up from the floor. The third and fourth pictures are the crematorium. This is where they burned people. I did not want to go inside so these are the only pictures I could get. And finally, I do not have a picture of this because I was way to scared to walk further. There was a sort of museum with lots of interesting facts. And there was more. Hanna did not seem very scared and looked around the whole place. Later she informed me that there were pictures of dead bodies. That is why I did not proceed. Anyway, the trip, though frightening, was incredible. Even though I spent most of my time shaking, it was truly one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had. Now here are the pictures: image.jpeg 1 of 9 7/14/2013 9:16 AM \ My Granddaughter's Trip To Buchenwald My granddaughter Gabrielle traveled to Germany the summer after her Bat Mitzvah.
