BID NO. 58.10 - The Works Engineer recommended that Bid No. 58.10 for the furnishing of Diesel Diesel & Fuel Oils and Fuel Oils to the City for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 1958, be awarded Award to the low bidder, Union Oil Company. Mr. Uehling explained that this bid was for 40,000 gallons of diesel and 5,500 gallons of fuel oil at 12? per gallon, or a total of $5,460.00. Commissioner Bunker moved that Bid No. 58.10 for Diesel and Fuel Oils be awarded to Union Oil Company in the total amount of $5,460.00, subject to the furnishing of a performance bond in the amount of $1,000.00, and the Mayor and Clerk authorized to sign the contract. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Whipple. BID NO. 58.11 - Works Engineer Uehling recommended that Bid No. 58.11 for furnishing 225,000 Gasoline gallons of premium gasoline at $0.2243 to the City for the fiscal year cam- Award mencing July 1, 1958, be accepted. Commissioner Fountain moved that Bid No. 58.11 for the furnishing of premium gasoline in the total amount of $50,467.50 be awarded to Union Oil Company, subject to the furnishing of a bond in the amount of $5,000.00, and the Mayor and Clerk authorized to sign the contract. Commissioner Sharp moved that Bid No. 58.12 for the furnishing of Lubricants to the City be awarded to Tidewater Oil Company in the total amount of $4,818.68, subject to the furnishing of a bond in the amount of $1,000.00, and the Mayor and Clerk authorized to sign the contract. Commissioner Sharp moved that Bid No. 58.14 for the furnishing of Grass Seed be awarded to Garden Center in the total amount of $1,065.00. SEWER CONSTRUCTION The Public Works Department requested permission to secure bids for the construction Alley - 1st to 2nd of an additional sewer main in the alley between 1st and 2nd Streets southerly intersection of from Garces Avenue. Works Engineer Uehling explained that it is proposed to Garces construct 252 feet of 8" sewer main in the north-south main for relief of the sewerage overload, at an approximate cost of $2,050.00. He explained that this construction will divert the discharge from two laundries in the area into the Clark Avenue main, thereby relieving a great deal of the overload of the Gass Avenue sewer main. Commissioner Fountain moved that authorization be given to secure bids for the construction of an additional 252 feet of 8" sewer main in this alley. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Whipple. VARIANCES (V-15-56 & Mr. Uehling presented the request of Sam P. Cava for release of the off-site improvement V- 8-57) agreement and bond, filed in connection with the medical building improvements Sam Cava at the intersection of East Charleston Boulevard and 8th Streets (Lots Release of Bond & 22 through 27, Block 34, South Addition, and a portion of Block "B", Wardie's Agreement Addition, adjoining Lots 26 and 27, Block 34, South Addition). Mr. Uehling explained that all work has been completed, with the exception of the installation of a street light for which a cash bond in the amount of $500.00 has been posted. Commissioner Fountain moved the bond and agreement filed by Sam P. Cava in connection with Variances Nos. V-15-56 and V-8-57, be accepted and released. 6-18-58
