1 7 7 WESTSIDE PUMP STATION SITE The Board considered the following letter received from the Union Pacific Railroad requesting that the We3tside.Pump Station site be deeded back to the railroad. "Mr. Thomas A. Campbell, President January 30, 1956 Las Vegas Valley Water District 919 West Bonanza Road P. 0. Box 1109 Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Mr. Campbell: You will recall that under the contract dated June 1, 1953» between the railroads and the Water District, it was provided in Section 5f sub-division (d) thereof, that the Water District would relocate the present pumping station, now located at the point indicated in sub-division (d) of the contract and shown on the map, Exhibit A, attached thereto, to a new location, likewise indicated on that map. To that end the railroads deeded a small square parcel of land to the Water District for relocating the pumping station. I now understand that the Water District does not intend to relocate the former pumping station, which has been abandoned, and under the circumstances I would appreciate if the District would give consideration to deeding back to the railroads the small parcel of land heretofore given to the Water District for the proposed relocated pumping station. Since the District apparently is not intending to ever locate a pumping station at that point, it would clear our title to a quarter section of land by eliminating therefrom the small parcel of land deeded to the Water District for this proposed pumping station. I would appreciate if this matter might be.brought to the attention of the Board of Directors at their next meeting. Yours very truly, /s/ E. E. BENNETT E. E. Bennett” It was noted that under the agreement with the Union Pacific, the District is obligated to deed the property back to the railroad in the event the site was abandoned. The Board instructed the Manager to advise Mr. Bennett that the necessary steps will be taken to deed the property back as soon as Mr. MeNamee returns to the city. ^ E D S TO PROPERTY - QUESTION OF KEEPING IN SAFE DEPOSIT BOX Manager Renshaw explained that he understood a question had been raised by some of the Directors relative to keeping deeds for property in the vaults in the District office rather than in the safe deposit box. He expressed the opinion that the safe deposit box would not be large enough to hold all of the deeds for property easements and water rights, and that since the instruments were all recorded and were not negotiable, the vault in the District office would be a safe enough place for their storage.
