August 23, 1906 Mr. R. E. F e lls , General Manager. Dear Sir: Attached hereto please find copy of le tte r which I have just received from Mr, C. 0. Whittemore, and which, as you w ill see, relates to the possible li a b i li t y of the railroad.company fo r contamination of the sources of water supply at the town of Las Vegas. I desire to say th a t, i f an epidemic, which in the judgment of reputable physicians could be traced to contamination of th is water supply, should occur at Las Vegas, or, indeed, i f any case of individual sickness should occur there which could be traced to this contamination, the railroad company, having control of the sources of th is supply and being under obligation to maintain it from contamination, would unquestionably be responsible fo r such resu lts. I trust that something can be done to avoid the danger of suoh li a b i li t y being enforced against the conga ny, because I consider that the situation is very menacing. Very sin cerely yours,
