    Dear friend Mary-: To night I will try and pen you a few lines to let you know that I am still among the living Your most welcome letter
    Cl of the 15 Inst, was reed, ^in due time and I was much pleased to hear from you but sorry I can not attend a the forth of July with you. Harry was telling me a little of what your program^ consisted and from that I have made up in my mind you would enjoy your selves.
    I do love to see young folks enjoy them selves although I am a very poor hand to help out, any sort
