    An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS DEALING WITH LICENSING FOR THE PURPOSES OF REVENUE AND REGULATION OF CERTAIN LAWFUL BUSINESSES TRANSACTED AND CARRIED ON WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, SPECIFICALLY BOOTBLACK STANDS IN BARBER SHOPS, RENTAL UNITS, BEAUTY SHOPS, AND CIVIL ENGINEERS; FIXING THE RATES OF LICENSE TAX FOR SUCH BUSINESSES; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AMENDING SECTION 8 OF ORDINANCE NO. 715: AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Fountain and Whipple, was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Fountain moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 722 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioners Bunker and Sharp, committee for recommendation on the proposed amendment to the liquor ordinance requested additional time before reporting. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO, AND MAKING A PART OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS CERTAIN SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED TERRITORY ADJOINING AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; DECLARING SAID TERRITORY AND INHABITANTS TO BE ANNEXED THERETO AND SUBJECT TO ALL LAWS AND ORDINANCES; ORDERING A PLAT SHOWING SAID TERRITORY TO BE RECORDED IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF THE COUNTY OF CLARK, STATE OF NEVADA; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Sharp for recommendation. Consideration was given to the claim of Glen W. Berg for payment of $600.00 for a 1949 Ford sold at auction in March of 1956 without notice to the owner. Commissioner Sharp moved this claim be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time Assistant Director of Planning Shawnee Stewart reported to the Commission on the proposed tentative street numbering system for the City of Las Vegas. Mr. Stewart explained that this study had been made by the Planning Commission in con­junction with the public utilities companies, the Better Business Bureau and City Depart­ments, and that the plan was briefly as follows: 1) To adopt a uniform system for numbering. 2) To correct those instances where there are streets with several names 3) To correct those instances where there are several streets with duplicate names. 4) To correct those streets with the same names that run in several directions. The Commission indicated approval of this study and requested that the study be continued. Commissioner Fountain moved that Bid No. 56.18 for the installation of a traffic signal system awarded to Galland Electric be rejected on the basis that the financial status of the Company does not meet the requirements of the City. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that on all contracts for $5,000.00 or more that the financial qualifications of the bidder, prepared by a qualified C.P.A. or licensed public accountant be presented prior to the opening of the bid. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. There being no further business to come before the Board, Commissioner Bunker moved this meeting adjourn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
