LAS VEGAS, Nev., August 24th, 1922. Mr. Levi Syphus, St. Thomas, Nevada. Dear Levi: There seems to have been a misunderstanding about trucks carrying provisions to the Railroad Company at this place during the tie up commencing Saturday, August 18th, 1922. One truck should have arrived at St. Thomas on Sunday morning the 13th, and two trucks on Monday morning the 14th. Governor Boyle advised me that on Sunday, the 13th, he gave Sergeant Gillan of the State Police a note to you requesting that you put Mr. Gillan in touch with the truck driver at St. Thomas so he could act as escort in bringing them in. It appears that Mr. A. L. Barton arrived at St. Thomas on Sunday morning the 13th with his truck and reported to Gentry as instructed, and that two trucks arrived the following day and likewise reported to Gentry. Sergeant Gillan advises me that he interviewed you on his arrival at St. Thomas on August 13th, and that you stated to him that you knew nothing about the trucks, and that afterwards he interviewed a truck driver personally and tried to get in touch with you, but was unable to find you. We would like very much to have this matter straightened out, and if you can advise me at to what transpired, I will greatly appreciate it. Believe me, Sincerely yours, F.R. McNamee
