NoNd Las Vegas Mayor S< Water Supply Is Criti The difficulty of securing enough water for maximum jcommunity, use was being faced .this week by North-Las Vegas. In order to conserve the existing water supply to the fullest ex-.j tent, Mayor C. C. McDaniel of j North Las Vegas this week ordered a strict water rationing system placed into effect. In a memorandum sent to all North Las Vegas property holders, Mayor McDaniel decreed S that the. residents of the, community would henceforth water. their lawns and shrubs on every! third day. The . water ration was| to be scheduled as follows: Ward No. 3, June 20 from 6:00 p. m. j until 9:00 p. m.; Ward No. 2; June 21, from 6:00 p. m. until 9:00 p. m., and Ward 1, June 22,* from 6:00'P.:m. until 9:00 p. m. Each ward, was instructed to follow the water program on every third day from the above mentioned dates. McDaniel cited as his authority in curbing the use of the water, City Ordinance No.- -.14, • which J prohibits the waste of water. He requested cooperation of North Las |Vegas residents in the program so that no central, control of. water usage would be* necessary. Water tanks- will, be kept | filled in the event of a fire emergency, he said. McDaniel also suggested, conservation measures for. the operation of water coolers and requested that circulating pumps be installed on all colors. North Las- Vegas* water department pumps ;' are 1 now operating 24 hours a day. The city has no reserve , well and must rely upon the, existing .supply,* Residents in some . sections of the . city report that prior to the conservation measures they had been, experi-jl encing trouble with low water pressure. The Las Vegas city, water problem appeared, brighter, though, according to A. M. Fol- ger, general manager of the Las Vegas Land and Water compare office, local residents, shoal'’ make every effort to conserv the: precious commodity.
